Covid-19: Rwanda records single-digit infections again

For the third day running, Rwanda has recorded single-digit infections after seven new Covid-19 cases and 21 recoveries were announced on Wednesday, August 06. Since Tuesday, the number of recoveries has been more than new positive cases recorded. Of the new cases, according to the Ministry of Health, five were detected in Kigali among residents of the City’s high-risk groups. Dr Sabin Nsanzimana, Director General of Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC) explained recently that Kigali’s high-risk group is made up of people who were in detention and transit centres. He added that the cluster also involves people who might have come in contact with this group of people. Meanwhile, the other two new cases were confirmed in Rusizi District. The results were obtained from 3,196 Covid-19 sample tests. So far, the country has conducted a total of 286,251 Covid-19 sample tests since mid-March and reported 2,111 Covid-19 cases, of whom 1,258 have already recovered. Five people have so far succumbed to the pandemic in the country.
